Piers Morgan to replace Larry King

By Alexandra Heilbron on June 30, 2010 | 7 Comments

America’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan is in talks to replace longtime CNN talk show host Larry King. According to radaronline, after negotiating with CNN for weeks, Morgan is close to finalizing  the $10 million deal. King, 76, announced last night that he would be ending his nightly Larry King Live show this fall after 25 years. America’s Got Talent wraps up its current season mid-September, so Morgan will be available just in time to start his new position. Morgan, 45, who’s from England, is also a judge on Britain’s Got Talent alongside longtime friend, Simon Cowell.

I like him. He seems like a witty person. The comments he makes on “America’s got Talent” for the most part, seem for dead on. I am sure his interviewing skills will be equally good.

I don’t like him. He’s always buzzing people before they really have a chance. And he’s often mean to little kids. My favourite judge this year is Howie, he gives people a chance. I wonder what it was like for Britain’s Got Talent contestants, with both Simon and Piers judging. I bet Simon was nicer to the contestants than Piers was.

I, for one, am getting sick and tired of every time I turn my TV on hearing another voice from England or Australia. Is there no Americans or Canadians for that matter that can do the job? Must we hear the accent on every show? I have nothing against these people but must they be on every channel and every show…come on…where are the North Americans????????????

I can’t stand him after watching him on The apprentice. I find him very rude & condescending. Not funny or entertaining at all.

I agree with Age A. Two out of the three judges on AMERICA’s Got Talent are Brits. And the third’s a Canadian (but at least that’s closer, he’s North AMERICAN). To be fair, Britain’s Got Talent should hire two American judges. Maybe when Piers is too busy to do the show (he’s such a grump on it, can’t stand him), they can hire an American to judge AMERICAN talent.

I love Piers. I especially began to like him on the Apprentice when he got into it hot and heavy with Omarosa. It showed what a family man he was and how he would not put up with anything that would affect or hurt his family. He also chose a great charity.

You people seem to have forgotten that it’s the Brits who started these shows and then they were adapted for North America. (America’s got Talent and American Idol). Somehow I doubt American Idol would have been so successful without Simon to start it off. I can’t wait to see how Bret Michaels gets along next season. He’s such a sweetie.

Anyway I think if you look at your celebrities you will find that many of them are from Europe and Canada but they choose to live and work in the United States. Don’t think of them as taking something away but instead as adding to what you already have in your wonderful country.
