Private funeral held for Anton Yelchin after tragic death

Almost a week after Anton Yelchin, 27, was struck by his own car and pinned to a column on his driveway, his family held a private funeral in Los Angeles on June 24.
Anton was killed June 19 when his Jeep rolled backwards and pinned his body against the brick column and metal gate in his driveway. Tragically, the Jeep was recalled for a gear-shifting issue just one month before his death, with the recall notice reading, “Drivers may inadvertently fail to achieve the PARK position before exiting.”
Although Anton’s body was not found until 1 a.m. on Sunday morning, it’s believed he died within a single minute of being hit by his car. His death certificate states cause of death as “blunt traumatic asphyxia.”
Following his death, there has been an outpouring of love and condolences, with many of his Star Trek co-stars, including Zoe Saldana, paying tribute to the actor on social media. She wrote: “Your sudden and unexpected departure has left us all broken-hearted. I woke up today feeling absolute gratitude that I had you as a friend and colleague. Your life has been cut short, but I will always tell everyone about you.”
One of the last movies the actor had filmed before his death was Star Trek: Beyond, which will be released July 22, 2016. The movie will be dedicated in his memory. ~ Natalia Makarski

As we wait for the second installment of the Avatar films to arrive this December, director James Cameron dropped The Way of Water’s runtime, and it’s long!
So, so tragic. I wonder if he knew about the recall. There was something that went wrong on my car but I didn’t hear about the notice until it gave me problems and I googled to see if anyone else had had this problem with the car and found out there was a notice several years earlier saying that dealers were fixing it for free for a certain amount of time.
I can only imagine how his parents feel…
At least he didn’t suffer. Still hard to believe he’s dead though.
Very very sad – thoughts and sympathy with his family and friends – losing a loved one in tragic and avoidable circumstances is all the more painful
