R.I.P. Leslie Nielsen 1926 – 2010

Actor Leslie Nielsen died yesterday (November 28) in Ft. Lauderdale at 84. He was admitted to hospital earlier this month due to complications from pneumonia and passed away at 5:34 p.m. with his wife, Barbaree and friends at his side. The Canadian-born funnyman was best known for The Naked Gun movie series, in which he played accident-prone Lt. Frank Drebin. Nielsen arrived in Hollywood in the 1950s and appeared in several movies and television shows. Although he initially acted in dramatic roles, Nielsen became recognized for his straight-faced slapstick comedies. He made his comedic breakthrough in the 1980s, earning fame with audiences and attention from directors. Nielsen’s one-liners are now often quoted, making him the lovable goof. His breakthrough film, Airplane! was loved among critics and moviegoers alike. Nielsen’s ability to be completely oblivious to the comedy and carry out his deadpan humor made him legendary in the world of comedy. Even in his eighties, Nielsen continued to act. I actually feel like crying. I was major fan and grew up on his films and watch Airplane! so much I memorized the whole thing.RIP. Canadian Talent disappeared but his legacy will live on.
