For the fourth weekend in a row, a children’s movie has topped the box office. The animated film Rio debuted in the top spot, grossing in an estimated $40 million (all figures U.S.)– the biggest box office debut in 2011 to date — and earning 3.6 out of 5 stars from Tribute.ca users. Scream 4 debuted in second place, taking in a respectable $19.3 million and getting a 4.4 star ranking from Tribute.ca users. Last weekend’s No. 1 movie, Hop, featuring the voice of Russell Brand as the Easter Bunny, dropped to third with an additional $11.2 million. The true life drama Soul Surfer, about a teenage surfer who survives a shark attack, held on to fourth place with a Tribute viewer rating of 4.6 stars and $7.4 million at the box office. Rounding out the top five was last weekend’s second place movie, Hanna, about a teenage assassin, grossing an additional $7.3 million and earning 3.6 stars.
