Rise of the Planet of the Apes continues as box office champ

For the second weekend in a row, moviegoers flocked to Rise of the Planet of the Apes, keeping it at the top of the box office with an additional $27.5 million in earnings. Tribute viewers gave it a high ranking of 4.5 out of 5 stars. The new drama The Help debuted in second place, taking in $25.5 million and earning a Tribute viewer rating of 3.5 stars. According to market research firm CinemaScore, The Help earned a perfect average grade of A+ from viewers, 60 percent of whom were older than 35. The only other film to earn that score this year was the inspirational film Soul Surfer. The latest Final Destination installment, Final Destination 5, won third place, grossing $18.4 million and getting 3 stars. The Smurfs dropped two spots to fourth place in its third weekend (4.4 stars), taking in an additional $13.5 million. Debuting in fifth place was the new comedy 30 Minutes or Less, which earned $13 million and 3 stars.

    It’s too bad Andy Serkis can’t be nominated for best actor at the Academy Awards.

    It was a really good movie, I just hope the action would have come earlier in the movie or that they would have made the movie a bit longer. The anticipation for the revolution was bit long but the build up was really good and the relationship between Franco’s character and Ceasar was believable.
