Robert Pattinson wishes he had a publicist

By Tribute on August 16, 2012 | 19 Comments

It’s well-known that Robert Pattinson went into hiding after news broke out that his longtime girlfriend, Kristen Stewart, cheated on him. However, the Twilight star made his first public appearance Monday night on The Daily Show and finally broke his silence on the matter. Though Pattinson was on the show to promote his upcoming film Cosmopolis, the scandal and break-up were of course the topic of discussion. On the show, Jon Stewart shared some Ben & Jerry’s ice cream with the 26-year-old actor while trying to get him to open up, saying, “We’re just a couple of gals talking. The last time I had a bad break-up, Ben & Jerry got me through the tough times.” While Pattinson never mentioned anything specific about the scandal, he did admit that he wished he’d hired a publicist, since he is now left to deal with the media on his own. “This is the weird thing about these interviews,” he began. “My biggest problem in life is I’m cheap and I haven’t hired a publicist and normally these awkward interviews are scripted… I’m gonna hire a publicist.” Looking well, Pattinson laughed and joked on the show with Stewart. And after digging into the ice cream, he admitted, “This is a great idea. I feel amazing.” ~Isabelle Khoo

He’s actually handling this pretty well. He’s a true class act it seems, I hope he starts to get more diverse roles now that Twilight is over!

I loved him in Harry Potter, but then he did Twilight and I felt like his acting went down. I’m really looking forward to Cosmopolis and I totally agree with you Marsha. I hope he does get some better roles now that the Twilight saga is over. It’s definitely time for him to forget about Kristen and Twilight and just move on with his life! Glad to see he’s doing well.

Haha, yeah the guy totally should have hired a publicist. I thought he did well on his own handling things on the daily show. He dodged the personal questions pretty well. But then I saw him on good morning america and he was so flustered and mumbled so much..

I actually caught the Daily Show and thought Rob played it cool and handled things really well. I was actually surprised at how well he seemed! But good for him for staying classy and above all the crazy rumors

Haha, yes! Ben and Jerry’s for the win

  6. james • August 16, 2012 @ 10:22 AM

I’m a little disappointed that Jon Stewart didn’t focus too much on Cosmopolis. But I guess it’s to be expected that they focused on Rob’s private life. Damn media..

You know what’s actually funny about this interview? At the end, Jon gives Rob well wishes and tells him he hopes Rob will be able to handle his business in private. Okay.. but then why would you bring up his personal life on tv?!

So he finally came out of hiding? Good for him. Going on with life like normal will do him some good.

i never realized those awkward interviews that pry into the personal live’s of celebrities were scripted…

  10. Brad • August 16, 2012 @ 11:09 AM

He should probably hire a publicist soon before another scandal breaks out

  11. Amanda • August 16, 2012 @ 11:47 AM

He’s sweet and funny and didn’t deserve what that little sl*t did to him.

This whole ‘scandal’ has given me a lot of respect for this guy. Things often happen for a reason and I hope he ends up better for it.

    Young love is about growing up and experinces. Love is tough. You have to learn and grown and forgive. That last part is the hardist. Keep smiling:}

Hats off to Rob. He did an excellent job avoiding Jon Stewarts questions about his personal situation. He doing an excellent job moving on with his life.

Noticed that the ice cream they were eating was mostly melted. Rob can not only melt ice cream but any girls heart!!!

This guy is truly one class act – I’ve watched him being interviewed on several occasions and he has been
a gentleman at all times – never once using these opportunities to trash Kristen – we certainly need more young guys like him in this world – way to go Rob – you deserve better anyway and will, I’m sure find someone
    more suited to you.

Unless you've been living under a rock, surely you heard of "Remember Me" "Water for Elephants" and his most recent film "Bel Ami"?

You don't have to be an fan-girl to know and appreciate Robert Pattinson's fine acting qualities in either of these flicks. Not to mention he played Lead-Character-Roles.

Bottom line… This kid can act!

  18. Bob • August 23, 2012 @ 3:08 PM

He can act – unlike her….. he’ll be fine and better for it.

  19. real • August 26, 2012 @ 12:22 PM

interesting bandwagon everyone climbs onboard with. Robert wasn’t always faithful to her either. he was better at not letting the media know but still. he’s no angel. no one in the movie business. Robert made enough of his own mistakes, as did Kirsten, so instead of calling her names, look at this for what it is. a couple who got together because of a movie series and now that the series is over, so are they. I don’t have pity for either of them. THey knew what they were getting into.
I think they are both great actors. their personal lives (unless they broke a law) are their own, leave them alone. If you don’t like their movies then don’t watch them. If you continually complain that one doesn’t show emotion, you are being desperate. If you complain how bad someones acting skills are.. I dare you to do better.
