Russell Crowe: Fatherhood has changed me

Russell CroweRussell Crowe believes he has changed since becoming a father.

The Water Diviner star has eight-year-old Tennyson and 11-year-old Charles with estranged wife Danielle Spencer and has admitted he now sees everything through the ”prism of being a parent” — something which gave him a ”deep connection” to the character he played in the film.

He said: ”You know, once you’re a parent, everything that you do in life happens from the prism of being a parent. So obviously there was a deep connection for me when I read that particular story.”

The 51-year-old actor also admitted he found some of the scenes — in which his character’s three sons were fatally wounded in the Battle of Gallipoli — particularly ”difficult” to film.

He added to E! News: ”Shooting those scenes was very difficult to take emotionally.”

Meanwhile, Russell previously admitted he has become more empathetic and compassionate following the arrival of his two sons.

He said: ”I was in the middle of life, doing other projects, developing things, and suddenly this script [for The Water Diviner] arrived and everything changed. As a father of two sons, there was an empathy and compassion, straight away. So in a sense I felt I didn’t choose the movie. It chose me.”
