The Help wins big at the Screen Actors Guild Awards

By Tribute on January 30, 2012 | 4 Comments

Awards season is in full swing and last night’s 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, held in Los Angeles, paid homage to this year’s biggest achievements in film and television. On the film side, the SAGs have often been regarded as a precursor for what we can expect at the upcoming Academy Awards in February and if that’s the case, The Help is a shoe-in come Oscar night. The cast of the film took home three prizes last night including female actor in a lead role, female actor in as supporting role, and best cast in a motion picture. The Artist, which has been receiving rave reviews and awards, only had one mention with Jean Dujardin winning in the leading male category. The Award for actor cast in a male supporting role went to 82-year-old Christopher Plummer for his role in Beginners. He took the Golden Globe for this same role earlier this month and could very likely take the Oscar for it as well.

On the television side, big winners included the 1920s-themed HBO series Boardwalk Empire, the biographical mini-series Mildred Pierce, as well as other popular shows like 30 Rock and Modern Family. Keep reading for last night’s full list of winners:

I think The Artist deserved to win way more than The Help. Hopefully The Artist gets the big Oscar win though
