The new comedy Just Go With It, starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston narrowly beat out Justin Bieber: Never Say Never at the North American weekend box office. Just Go With It earned $30.5 million (all figures U.S.) and a rating of 4 out of 5 stars from Tribute users, while Never Say Never was close behind with $29.5 million (Tribute user rating 2.4 stars). Despite earning second place, the earnings are in line with what studio executives expected, nearly matching the record for a music-documentary — in 2008 Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds debuted with $31.1 million. The animated Gnomeo & Juliet debuted in third place, taking in $25.4 million and earning 3.6 stars from Tribute users. The action adventure The Eagle starring Channing Tatum debuted in fourth, grossing $8.7 million (Tribute user rating 3.8 stars). Last weekend’s top film, The Roommate, sank to fifth place, rounding out the box office with $8.1 million. Tribute users ranked it 3.9 out of 5 stars.
