“Hello Sydney,” the small screen just got a little more terrifying. MTV announced today that the Ghostface Killer is slashing his way onto TV screens. A television series based on the successful fright franchise, Scream, is being produced. While there’s no word on whether the movie’s masterminds Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson will be involved, the network is currently searching for a writer to pen the pilot. If involved, this wouldn’t be the first time Williamson has mined gold from the television landscape. His previous projects Dawson’s Creek and The Vampire Diaries have both been hugely successful. While it’s not clear how the show would work, horror is a genre that has been finding success on the small screen in recent years. CBS’s 2009 slasher mini-series Harper’s Island received much critical acclaim and last year’s Ryan Murphy scare fest, American Horror Story, was one of the most buzzed-about new shows of the season. ~Kyle Sharp
