Selena Gomez cancels concerts due to miscarriage

By Alexandra Heilbron on December 20, 2011 | 21 Comments

Selena Gomez, 19, cancelled two concert dates after she found out her mother, Mandy, 35, reportedly suffered a miscarriage. The singer/actress learned the news last Friday and immediately cancelled concerts that were to take place Saturday in Chicago and Sunday in Seattle. Selena posted on Twitter last month that her mother was expecting a child with her husband, Gomez’s stepfather Brian Teefey. Both Selena and her boyfriend, Justin Bieber, were seen visiting Mandy in the hospital. The Wizards of Waverly Place star will still perform at MTV’s New Year’s Eve party, co-hosted by fellow former Disney star Demi Lovato and Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey at MTV’s Times Square studio. At the same time, Bieber will be performing as part of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rocking Eve in Times Square.

So how does this affect her? It shouldn’t cuz this stuff is common and happens all the time.

Wow her mom is only 35! That means she had her at 16!!

It’s always easy to call people names on a forum.

It was nice to see a daughter being supportive of her mother in a time of need. Selena seems to be grounded girl. not just thinking of herself and being in the spotlight. She seems like a very nice person and she knows where she needs to be: that is with her family.

My condolences to the family. This is really difficult news to handle.

THAT IS A REALLY MISLEADING HEADLINE

  8. Vayne • December 20, 2011 @ 3:13 PM

Miscarriages to happen all the time… in the first trimester of pregnancy. That’s the why majority of people do not officially announce they are due until afterwards – when the chances decreases significantly. Since it had been announced a month before by Gomez, one would assume the mother would be approximately 4-5 months. IF you do not think losing your baby at 4-5 months is significant and traumatic… that in itself speaks volumes.

The fact that the mother may of had Selena when she was very young is insignificant at this point no? If any 16 year old had a daughter half as successful as Selena is right now… I’m sure they would be proud. 🙂

    My 2 cents.

once again I will state tribute.ca cheapens itself on what is rag mag type of headlines….if people are interested they will click and read even if the headline isn’t misleading and shows some journalistic dignity. The website looks fantastic and I will admit as someone who spends a lot of time online it is always the most visually pleasing site of any sort but whomever writes this drivel needs to grow up and elevate the content to the quality of it’s appeal

Thats very difficult to go through. Ms. Gomez would of had a brother or sister! I’m sorry to hear that.

brittany, what a great contribution to the topic you gave. Your comment is even more fail than the fist two.

That sucks for all of them… Hopefully they will all get their tickets reimbursed.

Tribute tends to mislead you with headlines so that it makes you click on the link

  14. Oliva • December 21, 2011 @ 9:52 PM

First off, Trevor, it SHOULD affect her. Its her mother for christ sakes who just lost a baby, a new life, and Selena is trying to help her. And you ask why it should affect her?

And TheTruth, LEAVE BRITTANY ALONE! She stated her mind, it was not a giant fail, and if you come here to bash on people for stating their mind (which is pretty much on every site) stop it. Just please stop.
    That’s all

Not everybody feels like women’s choices have expanded or that ladylike styles deserve their place on runways and store racks year after year.
