Series based on J.K. Rowling novels casts Tom Burke as lead

An upcoming series based on the Cormoran Strike novels by J.K. Rowling has cast British actor Tom Burke in the lead role.
The crime-drama novels about a war veteran-turned-private detective named Cormoran Strike were written by J.K. under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith, and will be adapted for BBC on the small screen.
Tom, who most recently starred in BBC’s War & Peace and The Musketeers, is thrilled to have secured the part of Cormoran, whose insight and background make him a vital ingredient in solving three deeply troubling cases.
Tom said, “I’m overjoyed to be immersing myself in the role of Cormoran Strike, who is as complex as he is larger than life. I know I’m joining an extraordinary team of people on a series that for me is peppered with moments of real emotional depth and meticulously grounded in the page-turning momentum of these novels. Cormoran’s world is rich and raw.”
J.K. was similarly elated to hear of Tom’s casting. She said, “I’m thrilled about the casting of Tom Burke, a massively talented actor who’ll bring the character to perfect life. Cormoran Strike is pure joy to write, and I can’t wait to see Tom play him.”
The series will consist of three separate dramas adapted from J.K.’s three novels, namely The Cuckoo’s Calling, The Silkworm and Career of Evil. There will be a total of seven episodes, each an hour in length.
Shooting begins in London this fall.

Sounds promising! But doesn’t J.K. just want to retreat and enjoy the profits of Harry Potter? Like, sit down and never work again.
I’m glad to hear that Ms Rowling is still writing such good work. Looking forward to seeing the shows. Hopefully they’ll make it to Canada in a timely manner.
