Dabangg (Fearless) won the highest number of awards including the highly-coveted Best Picture at the 2011 International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards at the Rogers Centre in Toronto on Saturday, as well as Playback Singer (Male), Playback Singer (Female), Music Director, Screenplay and Actor (in a negative role). My Name is Khan followed with four wins for Best Story, Best Lyrics, Best Director for Karan Johar and Best Actor for Shahrukh Khan. At one point during the ceremony, a fan grabbed Khan’s leg. Khan was almost a no-show in Toronto due to a fractured knee and he was obviously in pain when the man was finally pulled away. Later, Khan joked, “This is the problem, only men grab my thighs.” However, he went on to perform a dance number, despite medical advice, during the ceremony as scheduled. The awards show, watch by an estimated 700 million people around the world, was the first time the IIFAs have been held in North America.
