Shailene Woodley Spider-Man 2 scenes cut from DVD

Divergent star Shailene Woodley filmed several scenes in character as Mary Jane Watson for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but not only were her scenes cut from the film – they will not be on the home release either. Director Marc Webb told MTV that the DVD/Blu-ray will have some deleted scenes but none will feature Shailene as Mary Jane, despite the fact that Mary Jane is a well known comic book character and one of Spider-Man’s great loves. In an interview earlier this week Webb told movies.com that MJ was cut because he did not want to take anything away from the Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker romance. Webb also stated Shailene is a wonderful actress but alluded to the fact they may have to recast MJ in future films because of Shailene’s busy schedule due to the successful Divergent franchise.
If you’re feeling sympathy for Shailene, there’s no need. She’s one of the hottest actresses right now, having also completed The Fault in Our Stars, based on the bestselling novel by John Green. She has also signed on for three more films in the Divergent franchise. ~Dylan Paisley

Why wouldn’t they offer those? Those would be the coolest thing on it, and people who like her from Divergent would probably buy the DVD even if they weren’t Spiderman fans.

fist she was in a stupid show on abc family. now she is on all the movies based off of great books(diverent fault in our stars) now she is gonna be mary jane in spider man pffffffffffff NO

Well Peter Parker had a better connection romance with Gwen Stacey. The producers doesn’t need Mary Jane at all. The writers didn’t want Mary Jane in the movie. For this uk version of the amazing spiderman i don’t think they needed to do another spiderman franchise. The spiderman franchise from 1 up to 3 was very good. The concept for The amazing spiderman 1 and 2 is a waste of time. Andrew Garfield doesn’t need to be spiderman in the future. It is a waste of time. The concept won’t be there in the future with the producers for the amazing spiderman.
I love the idea how they remake the movie and make it truly based on the book. However it’s true — we can’t deny the cemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone is so strong that any other girl who would replace Emma might be doubted. I don’t know how the romance is the number one resson for lots of people now but it does.
Ad I’ve seen Shailene in some of her movies. She may not be as ‘hot and funny’ as Emma (that’s what I often heard), but trust me she is good at bulting chemistry. This is why she often gossiped that she hook up with her co-stars and many people believed.
So I think spidey needs to stick with Shai.
Shailene is a FANTASTIC actor!!! Was very impressed with her in Divergent. She’ll go upward and onwards. While I watched her in Divergent I couldn’t help thinking I wouldn’t be surprized if she was the next acting generation Meryl Streep. She’ll keep getting better and better like Meryl did….and continues to.
