Star suffers severe injury – film shuts down

Rooney Mara, 25, was taken to a hospital in Sweden following an accident on the set of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Mara, who seriously injured her shoulder, won the coveted role of Lisbeth Salander despite competition from higher-ranked actresses. Mara had been in Stockholm for several weeks to prepare for the role — learning Swedish, how to ride a motorcycle, working out in a gym to build muscle and doing fight training. Filming has now been shut down until Rooney heals. The film crew will move on to Uppsala in Sweden, where parts of a main street are being converted for use in flashbacks. The scenes will not be affected by Mara’s absence because her character only appears in the contemporary scenes. Mara is being given physiotherapy at the hospital in Stockholm so she can get in shape as quickly as possible. Filming is scheduled to last until next spring and will take place in various locations in Sweden.

I wonder how it happened? Sounds like a very physical role.

I would not encourage anyone to go see this american version of the movie as it has already been done by the swedes and having read all the books, they did a fantastic job. Dont need Mara or Daniel Craig to screw it up.

haha working out the gym to build muscle, they are aware that she’s playing a 90 lbs girl who resembles a 14 year old?

That’s terrible about the accident that happened to Mara, as she is so young, and the injury may “bother”her the rest of her life! Also, she is just a new and up & rising star–hope this doesn’t throw her off acting. It might be worth seeing when it comes out. Don’t know much about the story line!

why on earth make another movie?
The first one can’t be beat – even with the subtitles, it was one of the best movies I’d ever see.
I won’t be seeing the remake.

    ……if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it!

a lot of people actually prefer the remakes, i say if someone wants to remake a movie, let them. who are we to tell anyone how to do their job? i agree that some movies are better before the remake, but some are better after the remake. i havent saw the original of this movie, i probably wont see the remake either. in any case, i hope she feels better soon.

That’s what happens when you try to remake a movie that’s barely a year old, Hollywood.
