Star Trek Into Darkness rules box office weekend

Star Trek Into Darkness conquered the box office this weekend with an estimated $70.2 million at the North American box office, falling slightly short of the expected $100 million and earning less than the first Star Trek movie did four years ago, which took in $75 million on its debut weekend. The sequel received a strong 4 out of 5 stars by Tribute users and knocked Iron Man 3, which has a 4 star rating, into second place with $35.8 million and The Great Gatsby, also with 4 stars, to third place, grossing $23.9 million. Pain & Gain with 3 stars fell to fourth place, bringing in $3.2 million while The Croods, with an outstanding 5 star rating, accumulated $3 million and moved up one spot to fifth. Rounding out the top ten were: 42, Oblivion, Mud, Tyler Perry presents Peeples and The Big Wedding. ~Rebecca Raveendran
