Proving once again that Sci-Fi fans are some of the most dedicated fans in the world, the head of Star Wars' 'Chewbacca' was recently sold at an auction for a whopping $172,000. Expected to sell for between $60,000 and $80,000, it joins the ranks of Star Wars paraphernalia that has sold for amounts that most people would not spend on anything less than a full university education or a mortgage. These include the $170,000 spent in 2005 on Luke Skywalker's lightsaber from Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, the $180 000 spent on Han Solo's blaster from Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi in 2007 and the astounding $350,000 spent on a miniature model of a TIE fighter, also from Episode IV. The Dreier Collection catalogue describes the collectable as the "finest full costume headpiece of Chewbacca from the original trilogy in private hands." ~Morgan Bates
