The Hills no longer alive

The MTV reality show that catapulted Lauren Conrad, Audrina Patridge (Sorority Row) and Heidi Montag to fame has finally been cancelled. The upcoming sixth season will be its last. The reality show (or scripted, depending on what you believe!) followed the lives of a group of friends as they tried to find success in Los Angeles. It debuted in 2006 and became a worldwide hit.

The show, which primarily focused on Conrad’s life and her aspiration to become a fashion designer, has made her into a mini mogul of sorts.  Conrad has written three teen books for Harper Collins and the story has been optioned for a movie.

Read an interview with Lauren here.

Creator Adam DiVello tells Entertainment Weekly, “I think we’ve told the story of struggle and of finding yourself in L.A. A lot of these kids have found themselves and have certainly embarked on different careers and different paths.”

The future of The Hills was thrown into doubt when Conrad quit last year and replaced by her foe Kristin Cavallari. The show’s demise was also cancelled due to Audrina Patridge’s announcement last summer that she would also be leaving to pursue a real acting career. The Hills also made the plastic surgery-addicted Heidi Montag and her controversial boyfriend Spencer Pratt, famous.

There was a show named the “The Hills”? And these people from the show are stars? WOW!!!! How odd that I don’t care about it or its fake stars.
I think I’ll have to put on my own reality show and I’ll call it “ANALyse This… Bowel Movement”. I think the premise of the show is clear to understand based on the title isn’t it?

If you don’t care, then why are you bothering to comment?

I’m just stating the fact that we’ve reached such a low point in Reality Television when shows like “The Hills” and many of its ilk are relevant. It looks like almost anyone ( with some weird trait) can have a show a la “The Little Chocolatiers”,because they are dwarves The Real Ho-wives of… Mount Trash and all their silicone and Botox and on and on. I wish I had a bigger nose. I’d start a show called “The Elephant Man Rides Again. Can you see the absurdity? Talent is not a requirement. Shock Value is the only requiremen.

I see what you are saying, and agree, but if you find it so absurd, why are you even bothering to talk about it? Why not just turn off your tv and go out for a bike ride or something?

Former reality TV star Lauren Conrad, of The Hills fame, is super excited to talk about her latest book, “Sweet Little Lies,” (Harper Collins Canada) the follow up to the best-selling book, “L.A. Candy.” The second book in the series continues to be “loosely” based on Conrad’s life in L.A. and her experience being on the highest rated reality show. Conrad recently spoke to Tribute’s Toni-Marie Ippolito about being an author, making her way into the movies, the importance of taking a break, and on the pressures of being beautiful in Hollywood.
