Wolverine slays competition to top box office

The Wolverine took the number one spot at the box office this weekend with a whopping $55 million and 4.2 out of 5 stars from Tribute readers, knocking supernatural horror flick The Conjuring to second, with an estimated income of $22.1 million and a solid 4.5 star rating from Tribute users. The animated sequel Despicable Me 2, which opened in the top spot last weekend, dropped to third, bringing in $16 million. Tribute viewers gave it 4.6 stars. In its second week, animated film Turbo dropped only one spot to fourth place with $13.3 million and 4.1 stars. Rounding out the top five, Adam Sandler’s Grown Ups 2 earned $11.5 million over the weekend for a total take of 101.6 million in its third week. Tribute viewers gave it a 3.5 star rating. The other films in the top 10 at the box office are RED 2, big-budgeted flick Pacific Rim, The Heat,  R.I.P.D. and Fruitvale Station. ~ Marriska Fernandes
