Although a contract has not yet officially been signed, Variety confirms that Tom Cruise has agreed to play the lead in All You Need Is Kill. The story is based on a Japanese graphic novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka about a soldier who dies in a war against aliens, but finds himself reliving his last day over and over again. Each time he’s killed, he’s reborn and lives the same day again, but slowly builds his skills and learns from his mistakes so he can change things in order to have a different outcome and win the war. Tom next appears on the big screen in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, opening December 21st. He also stars in the musical Rock of Ages, which will be released to theaters June 1, 2012.
