Tom Hanks is releasing a book of short stories. The Saving Mr. Banks star has signed a deal with publishing house Alfred A. Knopf to produce the collection just weeks after The New Yorker featured his first short story, reports the Huffington Post. The currently unnamed collection will be released in the near future and has been inspired by the 58-year-old actor’s love of typewriters with the set of short stories set to focus on and feature photographs from his own personal typewriter collection. The news of the release follows some negative reviews of his first published work, which was described by one critic as ”shopworn ideas about technology… wrapped in too-clever lit mag-ese.” The Oscar-winner has also created an app that gives the user the experience of writing on a typewriter and written an essay focusing on the differences between typewriter models.
