Fans everywhere are mourning the loss of a true musical legend — Whitney Houston, 48, was found dead yesterday in her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The cause of her death remains unknown at this time but the iconic singer was reportedly surrounded by close friends and family at the time of her passing. Now, just a day after the sad news was revealed, a video has surfaced of Houston’s last ever public performance, a rendition of “Yes, Jesus Loves Me” with singer Kelly Price at Price’s pre-Grammy party on February 9.
Many stars first heard the news of Houston’s death when they arrived for music producer Clive Davis’s annual pre-Grammy party last night — Davis is the man responsible for discovering Houston’s talent. Although the mood was somber, the night quickly turned into a heartwarming tribute to Houston. “Simply put, Whitney would have wanted the music to go on and her family asked that we carry on,” Davis told the audience. Famous guests included Sir Richard Branson, Tony Bennett, Alicia Keys, and Sean Combs. “Whitney Houston, simply put, had the greatest voice in the world. She was a gift of God,” said Combs. “Hearing her sing was like listening to magic. If it wasn’t for Clive Davis, the world may not have known about this miracle voice.”
