It was previously reported that Zac Efron backed out of a remake of Footloose because he wanted to concentrate on dramatic roles. Not so, says Efron. He simply turned it down because the script wasn’t any good. He told Details magazine it was a difficult decision to make, but he had to turn the lead role down when he realized it wouldn’t live up to the original, which starred Kevin Bacon. “All the things I loved about ‘Footloose’ I couldn’t find in the project. They just weren’t there. I couldn’t see myself doing it.” Kenny Ortega, who directed him in all three High School Musical movies, was also directing Footloose (he has also since dropped out of the project) and Efron didn’t look forward to telling him he was backing out. He said: “I love Kenny with all my heart, it was literally the hardest phone call I’ve ever made.” Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford was hired to replace Efron, but he eventually dropped out as well. Dancer Kenny Wormald has since been chosen to play the Kevin Bacon role.

I was really disappointed when he bowed out of it because he would be great in that role. But if it stinks, then I’m glad he’s not doing it. And if Chace Crawford dropped out too and Kenny Ortega, it’s going to bomb! They should do a rewrite before filming it and get Zac back.
I hope the movie does well, because the first one was so good. I just hope this one gets good reviews and makes lots of money at the box office like the first. The last thing they want is for is to be a bomb, and get awful reviews from critics.
That’s pretty smart of him, I think it was a really good call. He’s really taking care of his career.
why bother doing a remake?
Are all hollywood writers dead? Or have they all just run out of new idea’s??
