Letterman’s ex-mistress banned from set

Stephanie Birkitt photo courtesy of CBSStephanie Birkitt, 34, one of two female staffers David Letterman admitted to sleeping with, has been banned from the Ed Sullivan Theatre in New York where the Late Show is filmed. Birkitt began as an intern with the show in 1996 and was later promoted to David’s assistant. She appeared on the Late Show numerous times. Her ex-boyfriend, Robert Halderman, found out that she’d cheated on him with Letterman and allegedly tried to extort $2 million from the talk show host to keep quiet. According to The Telegraph, a security worker on the show said: “Security got a verbal order that she is ‘banned’ from the property for the time being.” Letterman’s company, Worldwide Pants, denies the claim, and issued the following statement: “Stephanie is on paid leave of absence … she has not been banned from the Ed Sullivan Theatre.”

It’s not fair to ban her, she didn’t do anything any worse than he did, why is she being punished?

She’s likely under investigation for being an accessory to the extortion/blackmail, so it’s a reasonable precaution to have her on a paid leave until this is sorted out.

These people are all consenting adults so how about we get back to our normal routine and don’t read into the publications too much. If i was involved i would take a long leave of obsense, and at the end hopefully find another job extend the obsense and move on. As for Dave personally he has let me down,my family and friends near know my routinei usually don’t miss it, i go to sleep and set my alarm to wake up grab a bowl of ice cream. However i havent being watching for the last week or so, lets see where this will go as far as popularity among talk show host is concerned. I would say he is slipping.

    – Maybe it’s time for Dave to retire. He’s been embarrassing people for years about this sort of thing, and is now a prime example of the saying “Those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones”. And lately, his Top Tens have been rather lame. Say good night, Dave? Think about it, at least.
At the same time, some kudos for not yielding to a blackmailer.

Regina Lasko “got what she deserved”…???? Why do you feel she “deserved” this? This is not her fault, it’s HIS! And as for your comment “IF A MALE DOESN’T WANT TO MARRY YOU,MOVE ON AND GET A LIFE!”, why did he marry her then? Again, this is not her fault.
