Matthew Fox won’t do TV after Lost ends

Matthew Fox and wifeMatthew Fox, who plays Dr. Jack Shephard on the hit ABC-TV drama Lost, says he won’t do any more TV work once the hit series is completed next year, because he wants to spend more time with his family.  “I am not going to do television again,” Fox told WENN. “That is not because I think film is better than television. Not at all, in some respects some of the best storytelling is happening on television. I have done two TV shows — Lost and Party Of Five — that have each run for six years. When you add it all up it is in the vicinity of 300 hours of television. I want to find a way to have more control over when I am working and when I’m not. I’m looking for more flexibility.” He added: “I am 42 and a father of two children and I don’t want to miss them growing up. I don’t want to find myself 10 years from now feeling like I was an absentee father because I was so focused on my career.” Fox has a 12-year-old daughter named Kyle and an eight-year-old son named Byron with his wife of 18 years, Margherita.

Understandable, I’m a big fan of lost. Sad that it is coming to an end, 6 years in the making. One of the best shows ever to be made. Can’t wait to see what next season has in store!

Lost is a good show but it seems that JJ abandoned this project years ago – Fringe is much better IMO.

Really enjoy Lost and like this actor too but his comment “I don’t want to miss them growing up”…they are 12 and 8…seems he’s missed A LOT already…

i never saw lost, but i really do love fringe. sad that i missed soo much of it before i caught on to watching it. it seems to me that men find the older years (like 6 and up) to be the most fun and the time they want to play a more active role in their childrens lives. what man thinks their kids are fun when they are small and whiny(whiney??) and in diapers that they will have to change etc? from what i hear, they usually try to leave the small years for the mothers :@ < thats my angry face

He should stop spinning it and just tell the truth, and say he want’s to be a movie star and not a TV star. Problem is only a select few make the transfer successfully. Bruce Willis is one who did it, but I don’t think Fox has the same screen presence. Funny how alot of TV stars are BIG and then get out there on the Big Screen and don’t shine as much. I’ve seen him on the big screen and he doesn’t have a powerful presence. My prediction is this “Matthew don’t leave your bread and butter, TV”. or like the Cliche goes, “Don’t quit your day job”.

He’ll be eating his words when his movie career tanks.
