The Secret Life of Pets posterIf you watched the intense adventure movie The Legend of Tarzan and/or the creepy thriller The Purge: Election Year last week, these two new comedies are sure to brighten your day.

Go and see what your pets really do when you’re not at home in The Secret Life of Pets and watch how an advertisement looking for a couple of nice girls goes wrong for two brothers in Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. ~Natalia Makarski

In Manhattan, Max is enjoying his life as his owner Katie’s favorite pet in the comfortable apartment building where they live together. He loves her so much that he sits by the door, just waiting for her to come home. But one day, his life is turned upside down when his human brings home a sloppy mongrel named Duke. Duke turns out to be less than careful about Katie’s decor, which gives Max an idea. He decides to break some things and blame it all on the new guy. But when Max and Duke get out of the apartment and are captured by Animal Control, the other pets in the neighborhood hatch a plan to rescue them. Click here for showtimes.

Hard-partying brothers Mike (Adam DeVine) and Dave (Zac Efron) are told by their father that they need to find suitable dates for their sister’s upcoming Hawaiian wedding. In an effort to please their dad and show their family they can secure respectable dates, they place an ad online looking for a couple of nice young women. The ad reaches The Wendy Williams Show and Tatiana and Alice (Aubrey Plaza, Anna Kendrick) see it. The out-of-control girls decide to respond and trick the brothers into thinking they’re polite and composed. But once the girls reach Hawaiian shores, the unsuspecting men realize they’ve been out-smarted, and will soon be out-partied. Click here for showtimes.

I think Zac Efron needs to try going back to his dramatic role. The Paperboy was actually impressive. Enough with crap like Mike and Dave already.

I agree. Neighbours was funny but then to follow that up with typecasting for raunchy Dirty Grandpa then Neighbours 2 and now Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates (who also stars A. Plaza from Dirty Grandpa who is starting to get typecast)… let’s stop seeing if movies can get dirtier and dirtier and how far the same actors are willing to go.

Agreed. He’s wasting his talent with garbage like this. He’s done so many raunchy comedies that he’s being typecast.
