No more blockbusters for Will Smith

Will Smith recently admitted he plans to steer away from blockbuster films. In an interview with Digital Spy, he talked about his latest film After Earth, which co-stars his son, Jaden Smith. Despite his love for storytelling, Will expressed the desire to shift his career elsewhere. “I’ve been really focused and it’s been an absolute necessity that the movie be a blockbuster,” the actor said, “But I think I’m going to start moving out of that and finding more danger in my artistic choices.” When asked what his biggest fear was when it comes to movie making, the Men In Black star confessed, “The movie opening at No. 2,” adding, “I just gave myself a chill.” The celeb must’ve recently faced his fears as After Earth debuted in third place at the weekend box office. It’s the first time in two decades that a Will Smith summer event  film did not open in the No. 1 spot. However, the actor spoke proudly about the film. “I love to create,” he said. “It’s not the movie-making probably as much as the storytelling. I love people being wrapped in a story and being able to deliver that emotional punch line at the end of the story.” ~Rebecca Raveendran

See Persuit of Happyness. They weren’t horrible together as father and son.
I suppose after you’re “bankable” the industry expects that #1 opening from you. You expect it from yourself as well.

It’s pretty easy to take risks when you have enough money to never worry if things go wrong.

So its ok to accept failure just bc you’ve made it before?

Maybe everyone hating isn’t successful so the best thing to do is to criticize someone who’s made it big time and is rich now?

Will Smith and his family are fake and phony. It is all about money and fame. He wants to be in the “best” of the shallow and stupid movies. Not a serious acting role, with depth.I just do not buy into that. His kids are in the same mode. The interviews are shallow and a joke. I wish the best for my worst enemy, so I am not jealous or whatever you want to call it. I am not about money, and would want to act in a role that has meaning and “some pay”, if I chose. I have never respected what he and his family do. Just hype. I did finally watch “Wild,Wild,West” and liked it. That is about it. If Will Smith is a nice guy, I have not seen it.

I like because a dumb movie that he made has not been number 1, he feels that he should try to make a movie with depth. How nice for Will Smith to finally have a “sensible” thought. He said in an interview that he is possibly making a part 2 of a movie he made. That was blockbuster junk. His son had asked to be in it, and Will said no. We will see. Dumb.

After reading the article again, I wanted to add that if Will Smith has to have a movie that is number 1 at the box office, he has issues . Pretty sad, really. Make quality work, and the satisfaction will come. Or try something else. Well, I rarely comment on these ads. Hate the computer. But… okay at times. Get a life! Lucky I did not grow up in the computer and video game age. I balance.
