The Sixth Sense

The granddaddy of all twist endings: that inescapable, unavoidable ending that seemed to capture the zeitgeist of the world upon its release. The fallout from this devastating reveal - so simple, yet so brilliant - would go on to affect writer/director M. Night Shyamalan's career (mostly negatively) for years to come, but at the time, we all hailed it as a stroke of genius. This is one of those endings that was so subtly and so perfectly seeded throughout the film that there was no possible argument that could be made against it. That red doorknob will haunt us for the rest of time, forever out of reach for our spiritual protagonist.
