Carrie Fisher Star Wars Photo Gallery

The world lost Carrie Fisher over the 2016 holiday season, just as interest in Star Wars had been renewed. Not only did she return to the role that made her famous in last year’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but she’d reprised her role once again in Star Wars: Episode VIII, which will release in 2017. Tributes have been pouring in for the actress, who was only 60 when she suffered a heart attack on board a plane and later died in hospital. We take a look at some iconic Star Wars photos and offer tidbits about Carrie’s experiences working in the movies that have become so close to many movie fans’ hearts. ~Alexandra Heilbron

She was an amazing person, slim and pretty. But life was never kind to her, drugs and mental illness changed her.

I still saw a person who made Star Wars a reality of fiction, in action figures and make believe.

I watched, and rewatched these movies over and over again. I enjoyed Carrie’s role as Leia, we all wanted to be her.

The Reprisal roles of her in Star Wars: Force awakens (I watched) and a new one coming out in 2017 will be a memory (keep sake).

But the true likeness of Carrie can never be replaced and I hope Star Wars can create a memoir of her character in future movies. 😢
