Ellen DeGeneres may have a regular (but glamorous) day job today as the host of her own talk show, but once, she floated from job to job. She was a bartender, vacuum salesperson, house painter, waitress, JC Penney sales clerk, and in her hometown of New Orleans, as a rite of passage, she shucked oysters. In her biography Ellen: A Biography, she wrote: "When you live in New Orleans, you're bound to be an oyster shucker, aren't ya?"
