Mufasa in The Lion King (1994)

If you’ve seen Bambi or Cinderella or basically any other movie, you know Disney is definitely in the business of parent-killing. But if you’re also part of Generation Y, none was more painful and shocking than Mufasa’s in The Lion King. Mufasa (voiced by James Earl Jones) is the indomitable King of the Jungle who is father to our little hero and future king, Simba (voiced by Matthew Broderick). Less than 20 minutes into the film, Simba is lured to a gorge filled with stampeding wildebeests by his evil and envious uncle Scar (voiced by Jeremy Irons). Naturally, Mufasa goes to rescue him. But, in a sad twist of fate, he is unable to pull himself up from the gorge and tragically falls to his death. We’re not crying...
