Dallas Buyers Club (2013)

When it screened at TIFF in 2013, director Jean-Marc Vallée's powerful movie about a Dallas man who tirelessly works to get AIDS patients the medication they need following his own diagnosis generated awards buzz for its two star actors (Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto). At the Oscars the following year, the buzz proved to be justified as both men in Dallas Buyers Club scored wins (Matthew in the Best Actor race, Jared in the Best Supporting Actor contest). Additionally, it was nominated in four categories, including Best Picture.
