Reese WitherspoonReese Witherspoon is “disappointed” at this year’s Academy Awards nominations.

The Hot Pursuit star is just one of a long line of actors and actresses unhappy about the lack of diversity in the nods for the Oscars, which takes place next month, and has called for a “more diverse voting membership” ahead of next year’s ceremony.

She wrote on Facebook: “I really appreciated this article in TIME on the lack of racial and gender diversity in this year’s Oscar nominations.

“So disappointed that some of 2015’s best films, filmmakers and performances were not recognized … Nothing can diminish the quality of their work, but these filmmakers deserve recognition. As an Academy member, I would love to see a more diverse voting membership. (sic)”

Meanwhile, other stars have confirmed they will not be attending the ceremony include Will Smith, his wife Jada Pinkett Smith and filmmaker Spike Lee.

When asked if he was attending, Will said: “No, my wife’s not going. It would be awkward for me to show up with Charlize [Theron].

“We’ve discussed it. We’re part of this community, but at this current time, we’re uncomfortable to stand there and say that this is OK.”
