Robin Thicke has broken his silence on his father Alan Thicke‘s untimely passing on Tuesday (Dec. 14).
In a brief conversation with the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday night after the news broke, Robin called his father as “the greatest man I ever met” and “always a gentleman.” The “Blurred Lines” singer confirmed Alan’s passing by adding, “The good thing was that he was beloved and he had closure. I saw him a few days ago and told him how much I loved and respected him.”
Robin then took to Instagram later that evening to say a few heartfelt words about Alan’s death. “My father passed away today. He was the best man I ever knew. The best friend I ever had,” he wrote. “Let’s all rejoice and celebrate the joy he brought to every room he was in. We love you Alan Thicke. Thank you for your love. Love, your grateful son.”
Alan’s youngest son, Carter Thicke, also took to social media on Tuesday night to pay tribute to his late father. “Today I lost my best friend and my idol, and the world lost one of it’s finest,” he tweeted. “You are a legend and I love you Pops. Until next time.”
Alan Thicke, 69, died Tuesday morning after suffering a heart attack while playing hockey. The Growing Pains star is survived by his wife Tanya Callau and his three children, Robin, Brennan, and Carter.~Shelby Morton
