Rumors about G.I. Joe: Retaliation delay

By Tribute on May 30, 2012 | 6 Comments

G.I. Joe: Retaliation,  which was set to be released this summer, will now be released in 2013 instead. Initial reports from Paramount stated the delay was so the film could be converted into 3D, but rumors are now pointing to other reasons. After Channing Tatum’s recent successful releases such as 21 Jump Street and The Vow, test screen audiences responded negatively to his early death in G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Considering Tatum was not as big a star when the first film, G.I Joe: The Rise of the Cobra  was released, the studio heavily miscalculated his influence on the film. Other rumors for the delay point at the heavy summer-movie competition, with films such as The Dark Knight Rises and The Amazing Spider-Man releasing. It will be interesting to see if new scenes will be filmed in order to allow Channing’s character to live in the sequel, making future appearances in the franchise possible. ~Stacy Raivich

Diana, are you stupid? The article said the movie is going to be released later,
Why don’t you open your eyes and actually read, instead of letting your girly crush do the thinking

I think this movie is going to be great but they should stop releasing everything in 3D

There is a reason why I am not going to watch this movie because the director Jon M. Chu did so many changes in the movie that destroyed the hole story line. Not only did he not try to bring back bring more of the main characters from the 1st movie he only brought 4 characters back. Jon M. Chu destroyes start the main character from the movie Channing Tatum character so early in the movie. Stephen Sommers did a better job in directing the 1st G.I. Joe movie.

I agree that they are getting carried away with all the 3D movies…I just went to see the Avengers and was nauseated by all the fast paced scenes in 3D….would rather have seen it the normal way

@Brian – why don’t YOU read a bit more careful and stop insulting people. The article says that he gets killed early in the film. If that is true, I would find it kind of odd given that he is being promoted as the main character.
