Teen suicide delays HBO star photo shoot

By Tribute on November 29, 2012 | 12 Comments

A Vanity Fair photo shoot featuring Lena Dunham, who stars in the HBO series Girls, was delayed when a teen committed suicide next to the park where the session was to take place. A 19-year-old male jumped off the Brooklyn Bridge during morning rush hour, landing on the back of the River Cafe, a restaurant that was temporarily closed down due to damage from Hurricane Sandy. As emergency vehicles surrounded the area, famed photographer Annie Leibovitz and her team waited patiently in the rain and snow until the police investigation concluded and they were given the go-head to work. The name of the suicide victim was not released. ~Luxy Hariharan

It must have been terrible for Lena, Annie & the crew to have to ‘patiently’ wait around after this person decided to ruin their photo shoot, how dare they! Nice job on the article Luxy.

How dare they? You have no remorse for the young man who took his own life? I’m sure there were other things on his mind other than ruining a photo shoot, such as why people in this world don’t really care about what’s important – people like you I guess.

Sad news. It doesn’t sound like the crew was complaining though.

Its sad yes and agree with Jackson doesn’t sound like they were complaining, its a story about the delay and the reason for it; but anyone who is committing suicide is crazy anyways, nothing can’t be that bad to take your own life! Everyone including myself have so much to deal with in life and love myself enough and family to not put them through anything like never seeing me again!

Alison, you are objectively a terrible person.

Yeah the article doesn’t make it seem like crew were distraught over it. It just seems like they had to wait for the clean up and that’s why a photo shoot was delayed. Maybe they should have added an interview with someone in the crew on the shoot to give some perspective about the suicide instead of adding the words “famed photographer Annie Leibovitz and her team waited patiently in the rain and snow until the police investigation concluded and they were given the go-head to work”..Just seems like they couldn’t get their job done because of this inconvenience.

Depression is serious. Who knows what the reason was. Maybe it was drugs? Maybe it was a serious mental condition..who knows.

Poor Alison! Don’t worry, I see what you did there.

Alison was using something called “sarcasm.” Give me a break people.

  9. Sam • November 29, 2012 @ 7:52 PM

This story is ridiculous, shallow, and trashy.

Well Allison, had this been your boyfriend, don’t think you would be
talking like you do. The photo shoot can happen any day, money can buy anything, just cannot bring a person’s life back. How petty little things are when you are faced with uncertainties. Poor sad soul.

To all you haters, it is plainly evident that Alison was just kidding and being sarcastic. Lighten up. I’m certain she takes this just as seriously as the rest of you, and can’t believe the film crew just waited patiently then did their shoot anyways…

Thats so sad. My thoughts go to the boys family. If I were Annie Lebowitz, I would have scheduled the photo shoot for another date. Really, if something like that happened near the place I was working, I would have left immediatly. SO sad 🙁
