The Wolf of Wall Street to be released on Christmas Day

Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street looks set for release on December 25th after being pushed back due to necessary work in the editing room. The adaptation of stockbroker Jordan Belfort’s autobiography, which will mark the fifth collaboration between Martin Scorsese and actor Leonardo DiCaprio, was originally slated for a November 17 release. It was subsequently delayed after Scorsese turned in a cut that ran over three hours to Paramount. It was uncertain whether this would mean the drama would be pushed back to 2014, making it ineligible for the Academy Awards in March of that year. The news of a Christmas release, which comes from three sources close to the production, means the film would be a late contender for the Oscars. Scorsese won his first and thus far only Oscar for the 2006 film The Departed. Paramount is likely to push back the release of the Tom Clancy reboot Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit to late January to accommodate The Wolf of Wall Street. ~Raj-Kabir Birk
