Tom Cruise stars in the thrilling trailer for The Mummy

Over eight years after the last installment of the Mummy trilogy, the action-packed and highly anticipated reboot has finally made its first appearance on the interweb.

The gripping premiere trailer for The Mummy features a pretty amazing plane sequence in which new protagonist Tom Cruise, replacing previous hero Brendan Fraser, once again shows what a physical actor he is. It’s a non-stop thrill ride with lots of — you guessed it — CGI.

Tom stars as Nick Morton, a military operative who is thrust in the middle of an age-old vendetta when he and a team of commandos transport a tomb from Egypt to London. As for the titular mummy, this time around it comes in the form of an ancient princess named Ahmanet (Sofia Boutella) who’s looking to start an apocalypse all in the name of payback.

Directed by Alex Kurtzman and also starring Russell Crowe, Annabelle Wallis, and Courtney B. Vance, The Mummy hits theaters June 9, 2017.

This film is a reboot of the original 1932 film nothing to do with the trilogy.
