Tyler Perry accuses police of racial profiling

Tyler Perry has a bone to pick with Atlanta police and he’s not keeping quiet about it. The director is claiming to be the victim of racial profiling when he was approached at a traffic stop by two policemen who acted unreasonably hostile with him because, in his opinion, he’s black. Perry, who was traveling without his usual entourage of security, made a left turn from a right lane to make sure no one was following him and that’s when he was stopped. “My mother would always say to me, ‘If you get stopped by the police, especially if they are white policemen, you say yes sir and no sir, and if they want to take you in, you go with them. Don’t resist, you hear me? Don’t make any quick moves, don’t run, you just go,'” Perry wrote on his Facebook page. “It was happening so fast that I could easily see how this situation could get out of hand very quickly. I didn’t feel safe at all. But one officer stopped his questioning and said, ‘We may not let you go.'” At that point, a black officer arrived on the scene and seemed to realize what was happening. He took the two white officers back to the cruiser where he spoke to them quietly. One of them then returned to Perry’s car and apologized before they all took off. “RACIAL PROFILING SHOULD BE A HATE CRIME INVESTIGATED BY THE FBI!!!” wrote Perry. The Atlanta Police Department has confirmed that Perry was involved in the traffic stop and that they’ve opened an internal investigation to “determine if Mr. Perry’s claims can be substantiated, and whether any departmental policies or procedures were violated during the stop.”

you do realise racial profiling means that they pulled you over because youre black; and not because you committed a traffic violation… get bent. stupid douches playing the race card all the time. did they know you were black when they pulled you over? i doubt it. you did something wrong. how they (white cops) behaved afterward is unacceptable, but to pull the race card for being pulled over. you did something wrong! man up to it. just because youre a celeb doesnt mean the law doesnt apply to you!!!

Some cops are just pricks… Does it have to turn into a race thing? Jebus…

I just figured cops are jerks to everyone who isn’t middle aged Caucasians or women. I’ve never had the pleasure of experiencing a police officer’s treatment of you if you are of those two categories, but I’ve heard of women being able to get out of tickets and middle aged white men being treated civilly from friends. On the other hand, the majority of my friends who are coloured like me would say a pretty lousy encounters with law enforcement. Don’t know if this is widespread on either account, but it is in my experience. Bullies with a badge…and then we wonder why our young people don’t have respect for the system.

Yes there is alot of racism but Tyler Perry has to remember that he ILLEGALLY made a left turn which warranted a stop. Not because he is black. Quit using racism as an excuse

I’m not turing this into a debate but they’re some streets in Atlanta were you can do this.
