I’ll be spending Valentine’s Day at our local hospital with my husband who broke his leg on December 31st. He broke two bones in his lower, left leg and had to have a rod and screws inserted during surgery to make sure it set properly. Poor fella will still be in the hospital for ten more days from today, February 5th. So he gets out of buying me a present and he gets out of taking me for dinner. I guess it’s pizza at his bedside. But as long as we’re together, nothing else matters.
We’ve only been married for fifteen years so the honeymoon is still on…. :-))

Since I will be working during that day but the day before I will walk in helping blowing all the Valentine’s Balloon over 300 for handicaps and old age at my volunteer work to give out every residents at the Centre on Saturday since I can’t make it this year to be there on Saturday Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s Cards and nice ribbons are done this week ready for Valentine’s to give them but I can’t be there this year.

I will be spending this Valentines day with all the ones I love!!! My husband and I include our 3 kids in making a heart shaped cheesecake and homemade pizza every year. Something my husband and I started when we were just 15 🙂

I am actually not sure how I’m spending it, to be honest. My boyfriend is going through some very difficult things right now, and I don’t have any desire to burden him by pressuring him into some kind of V-day activity. I love V-day, but love is something that can happen every single day, and, so, I am going to call and let him know that there’s no pressure at all this year and that we can always celebrate later if we want. So, weather I see him or not that day, I’ll be loving him, and that’s what matters most on V-day – love.

My mother turns 100 years old this valentine’s day and we are having a party with 4 generations of family and friends. We have made a book of her life, messages of congratulations from the city, province prime minister and queen. We have also had a painting done of the house our parents lived in for almost 50 years!

My Valentine’s Day will come early this year. My girlfriend and I will be attending the Toronto Maple Leafs-Montreal Canadiens game this Saturday on Valentine’s Day at the Bell Centre in Montreal. It is our first trip to Quebec together, where she is from, and this game was on each of our bucket list’s, so we are extremely excited to be spending the weekend together. Then, we will enjoy lots of delicious wine, Montreal cuisine, and do a lot of walking around the city. With the snow and lights at this time of year it should be incredibly romantic. Unfortunately our Valentine’s Day this year is going to be super busy. My husband is entering a competition at his gym in the morning followed by a pot luck lunch that the kids & I will join him for. Our oldest son is assisting at the hockey arena in the morning so I am his chauffeur. Then in the afternoon (after the pot luck lunch at the gym) my husband (& youngest son) are going to see his neice & nephew have their first communion while I take our oldest son to his hockey game. Hopefully my husband will make it to watch the hockey game at some point and then maybe we can all go out for supper. Oh yeah & my brother is coming down for a visit too so he will be tagging along and we will probably have my Mom along too. Never a dull moment!

We are spending the evening at home. Dinner out these days can be hectic and busy so we prefer to just buy something we love to cook and eat in. Afterwards we will be renting some terrific movies and just cuddling and vegging on the couch. We will celebrate our 48th Wedding Anniversary in August 2015 so we have had wonderful opportunities over the years to try different Valentineès Day plans. Valentine’s Day 2015 – I am throwing my very own ‘Single Girls Gala!’ This is the event of the year that I created for all the single gals in my life…as me as the hostess! The evening is planned to consist of swanky girly cocktails and adorable appetizers to start…followed by exchanging the wrapped ‘secret shopper’ Valentine’s gifts ($40 or less). Then it’s all us single gals heading out for reservations at a nearby high end restaurant for a Prix Fix Valentine’s Day dinner…then off to see a live band and get our groove on…followed by our hotel stay at a downtown spa…girly pj party…brunch in the morning…followed by massages! Needless to say – the budget has been blown on this event…a nice win to follow this epic event would be AWESOME!!!

I am spending Valentine’s Day alone. I have moved to a remote area up in Northern BC about an hour outside of the closest town in order to teach in a two room school. I am going to try and find a good old fashioned comedy on television and make myself my favorite dinner coupled with a glass of wine to enjoy the evening alone. Hopefully, I will have someone that lives out here who is willing to join me next year for Valentine’s Day. ;o)

As per our thirty-plus year tradition, my husband & I will eat at home and watch some tv or play a board game or some cards. We’re both too practical to spend $$ on overpriced flowers, food and drink. It’s worse for me, as my birthday falls the day after V-Day.
However, next weekend we are off to Toronto to go to a play and will take in a hockey game. I may get to spend time with my cousins, and we will enjoy intimate, yet reasonably priced, dinners.
Flowers will follow in a few weeks … potentially pussy willows from our tree. I don’t need all the fancy stuff on V-Day; we celebrate all year round by loving each other completely and supporting each other. I cannot imagine my life without him, nor do I want to find out what it would be like for many years still.
To paraphrase what Jack Nicholson’s character said to Helen Hunt’s character in “As Good as It Gets,” we fully complete each other.

I am spending Valentine’s Day with my husband of sixteen years. He broke his leg on December 31st, 2014 and has spent forty-five days in hospital. He was discharged on February 13th, just in time to spend the day with me, at home. 🙂

Alone, my son is with his dad this weekend. But I’ve ordered in. I have my big soft blanket that I’m cuddling on the couch with and watching all the sappy movies on TV. Just a relaxing day for me. Miss my boy, but loving the me time!

For Valentines, we went out for an authentic fine dining lebanese restaurant, then when we got back home, we had a nice bubbly bottle while watching a romantic movie (Silver Lining Playbook). My partner got me amazing roses and my favorite box of chocolates and treated me to a nice massage… And to complete it, in the morning, we had a nice almost in bed breakfast 🙂
