Vanessa Hudgens faces six months in jail for damaging rock

Vanessa HudgensVanessa Hudgens and Austin Butler promote his new TV series, who recently appeared as tough girl Rizzo on Grease Live! just one day after her father passed away from cancer, is now facing charges after she posted an Instagram photo revealing a crime she committed.

It appears Vanessa and her partner-in-crime, longtime boyfriend Austin Butler, allegedly defaced a red rock formation in Arizona’s Coconino National Forest by carving the inscription “Austin + Vanessa” on the surface, surrounded by a heart.

She posted a photo of the rock on her Instagram on Sunday, but quickly removed it after receiving backlash.

Brady Smith, a spokesman for the U.S. Forest Service, said authorities are investigating the incident. If found guilty of damaging a natural feature in the 250 square-mile Red Rock Ranger District, Vanessa and/or Austin face up to six months in jail and a maximum $5,000 fine.

Vanessa rose to fame in Disney’s High School Musical series of movies, and Austin has appeared in shows such as Zoey 101 and Switched at Birth. He is currently starring in MTV’s new action series, The Shannara Chronicles.

Her vandalism is inexcuseable. The authorities have no choice but to make an example out of her. She deserves the maximum penalty by law, and all the media scrutiny that comes with it.

Yes Clu, we should send her to death! Give me a break… She messed up, she’ll make a huge donation and it’ll end up being a blessing in disguise.

If she is guilty of her charges she’ll just have to do time or parole or whatever they throw at her. She defaced property and she needs to take responsibility for it.

Yes she made a mistake and she will be held accountable but it’s not a major crime.

all I can say is “good grief”.. was there signage when you enter the park not to deface or damage the said rock.

They are common vandals and should be punished to the full extent of the law but…..we all know celebrities receive different justice from the rest of us. Not very smart in the brain department these two.

Some of you need to take a pill. Young couple in love does something silly. No different than engraving your name on a tree. Seriously, when so many people are in need, this is what people worry about.

Not to worry everyone, she will get a slap on the wrist with a promise to never vandalize again. *fake tear* celebrities have such a hard life.

Really a love sign on a rock and the idiot here are up in arms? Sure lets destroy our planet in our never ending desire for more material gain (can u say oil, gas, diamonds, coal- any mining at all, mercury in our food chain etc) and the same people here wh0 will likely defend big oil’s right to mercilessly dig any and every where for oil (because it creates “jobs”) cry about a sign on a rock. Will it kill the aforementioned red rock. Give me a break people. Oh and stop with the petty jealousy of celebrities or anyone with a more privileged life than you already.
