War Witch wins at the first Canadian Screen Awards

By Tribute on March 4, 2013 | 2 Comments

Some of the biggest names in Canadian showbiz were present last night to take part in the first Canadian Screen Awards, which joined the previous separate ceremonies of the Genie Awards and the Gemini Awards. Hosted by comedian Martin Short, the night honored the country’s best in film and television. The Sony Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto was the scene of the star-studded event, which was packed with performers such as Catherine O’Hara, Sandra Oh, Gabrielle Miller and James Cromwell.

The Academy awarded 37 statues to well-deserving projects such as 2012’s War Witch (Rebelle), which won Best Motion Picture and was also an Oscar nominee for Best Foreign Language Film. Watch Tribute’s exclusive coverage from the red carpet above. See below for a gallery of photos of the celebrities who spoke with Tribute as well as a list of winners from last night.

Yay James Cromwell! He’s been one of my favourites since he starred in Babe.
