Tribute’s Bonnie Laufer talks to up-and-coming young teen star Chad Michael Murray who is currently starring in Freaky Friday.

B.L. Freaky Friday was a riot to watch, but how much fun did you have making it?
C.M. It was a riot! Jamie Lee Curtis made it so much fun for all of us. She came to set bringing games and we had a ping-pong tournament which she ended up winning. She celebrated and then ended up giving the table away, so it was great. Everybody really got along and it was a great set. Everybody collaborated, bringing their ideas to the table, and anything that came up Mark (Waters, the director) would let us try, and it was fabulous.

B.L. Speaking of Jamie Lee, you got to spend a lot of onscreen time with her. You ride a motorcycle with her and just plain hang with this older woman. I’d say that’s pretty cool.
C.M. I’m not complaining, she’s sexy—it’s plain and simple. I grew up watching Halloween, True Lies, A Fish Called Wanda, Trading Places and she was hot. She is probably the reason why some of us were forced to become men.

B.L. Did you tell her that?
C.M. Oh, I’m sure I told her a few times! But anyway, having the opportunity to just sit across the table and have a scene with such a seasoned vet, someone who I respect and who in my opinion is such an icon I was really just so thankful to have the opportunity to work with her.

B.L. What surprised you about Lindsay Lohan? Lets face it; you have worked with your share of some great young actresses from Gilmore Girls to Dawson’s Creek.
C.M. I love all the minors, no.. Just kidding! That’s horrible.

B.L. You’ve been pretty lucky.
C.M. Yeah I’ve worked with a lot of great young actresses. I’ve been very fortunate to work with all the girls I have, and Lindsay joins the list. She did an amazing job in this and I think that she is such a great little actress and I was really impressed. She loves to be part of my jokes and she stole my clothes out of my trailer.

B.L. Did she wear them though?
C.M. I hope not, I don’t know. I don’t know what she did on her spare time but I know I ran around wearing boxers for half a day!

B.L. Did you ever find it confusing when Jamie was playing the teenager and Lindsay played the mom?
C.M. I would explain it to you but I would confuse you! I’m just going to say, yes! Short answer, it was hard, it really was. Especially when both of them were in a scene with me at the same time because they would try to play themselves as the other person if that makes any sense.

B.L Do you have a problem with kissing scenes or does it just all come naturally for you?
C.M. I don’t want to say that it comes naturally but I just don’t worry about it. I don’t get very nervous about it; it’s not what I’m caring about. I’m worrying about a lot of other things and I know that this was Lindsay’s first onscreen kiss and I showed up to set that day and I was like ‘oh crap, what should I do? Tell her to make out with her hand for an hour?’ I didn’t know what to do, but I just took her aside and I was like ‘I’ll do anything to make you comfortable.’ So we just talked about it and I told her to just be relaxed and that there was nothing that she needed to be uncomfortable about. I mean what’s the worse that could happen, I’d bite her? So, Jamie took her aside too, talked to her and hung out with her and it went really well. We got out there and we had a great moment and I was really proud of her. It looks great and it was a really sweet moment.

B.L. You are doing great in your career so far but what’s it like to be named one of People’s Hot Young Sexiest Teens?
C.M. It’s sweet. I was a nerd in high school; I couldn’t get a girlfriend in my school if I tried. I was such a loser!

B.L. Liar!
C.M. No really, I swear to god I had no friends. I swear nobody liked me. I wore jeans and a T-shirt to school every day and every one else wore Abercrombie. I’m serious; I went and dated a girl outside of my school because she didn’t know I was a nerd. It was bad, so the funny thing about this Sexiest Young Teen is I don’t think I’ll truly ever understand that! I don’t get it and it’s funny that anyone would ever want an autograph from me. It’s weird but I just really love my job and doing what I do. I’m not doing it for any other reason but that I love to get up and go to work and basically just use it as therapy.

B.L. Up next, you’re starring opposite another bright young star Hilary Duff in The Cinderella Story.
C.M.M. Yeah, we are shooting that right now and that’s going well.

B.L. She’s a little dynamo that girl!
C.M.M. She impressed the shit out of me! Going into the project I thought she was going to be one person and she proved to be incredibly intelligent, incredibly sweet, kind and gracious to everybody and she’s taking this very seriously and kicking some butt!

B.L Before we wrap, is there anybody you want to say hi to in Buffalo?
C.M.M. Oh yes… Hi Pops and family… I love you all and hope you are all taking care. I love Buffalo and I miss it there!
