Tribute's Bonnie Laufer sits down to talk to Britney Spears about making movies, trying to be a normal girl and what's ahead.

B.L. Britney, congratulations. I think your fans are going to be very pleased with Crossroads and your performance in it.
B.S. Well, thank you so much. That is very kind.

B.L. How did you know that this was the right time in your career to start making movies?
B.S. Really, I just got finished with like my fourth tour and I'd never experienced making a movie before. It was time for a change I wanted to try something different. So that's how I came up with the whole theme of Crossroads.

B.L Why was this the right one? What was it about Crossroads?
B.S. At the time there were all these scripts that we were getting and there was nothing that I was really passionate about that I would take out a lot of time to do this, so when I realized that I could make up my own movie I was like “hell, ya”. So we got a writer to come in and just completely elaborate on Crossroads and that's what we did.

B.L. It looked liked working with your co-stars, Zoe Saldana, Taryn Manning and Anson Mount was a lot of fun. But, what was it like when they met you and how did you put them at ease. Let's face it, it must have been a little intimidating meeting you for the first time.
B.S. No, they weren't at all. You know, no not at all. If anything, I wanted them to feel really comfortable. I knew instantly when Taryn and Zoe walked in, our chemistry was like we felt each other. Me and Taryn had the exact same outfit on. So we hit off like that instantly. If anything, they helped me because the whole acting thing was so new for me, I was just mesmerized at how talented they were.

B.L. How different was it for you making a movie? I would think that it was like a vacation for you considering how busy and on the go you are with your concerts, and video and commercial shoots.
B.S. You know what? It was a little bit more of a laid back process. I had the weekends off so I could totally deal with this making movies thing. It's so different from anything that I have ever done but it was fun, it was a lot of fun.

B.L. The film is not only about having good friends but its also about parents and how you deal with them. It's an interesting story-line with what goes on with your mom in the movie because in real life, you are very close to your mom. You wouldn't have this amazing career if it weren't for her, she really supported you every step of the way. Was this film a bit of a tribute to her?
B.S. Definitely. I think that the inspiration of even coming up with the movie has a lot to do with what I have experienced in my life, and I think that she gets that.

B.L. I understand that you have both written a book together that will be coming out in April?
B.S. Yes, it was a ton of fun to do. It's called A Mother's Gift and it pretty well follows what we have been through together over the last few years.

B.L. When does Britney Spears have time to be a normal girl? What is a diversion for you? What do you like to do? B.S. Hang out with my boyfriend. Just hang out with him. Go to the movies, do stuff that you do.

B.L. Your little sister Jamie Lynne who is 11, has a small role in the film playing a younger version of you. She is now following in your footsteps wanting to get into the business. What kind of advice do you give her?
B.S. It's going to be kind of hard because I am her big sister and I'm going to be there. I am going to be Miss protective big sister, but I would just tell her to do what she's got to do and don't take any bull from anybody. Show her stuff!

B.L. For a 20-year-old, you have achieved more that most will ever achieve in a lifetime, but let's look ahead a few years. What is left for you to do? Where would you like to see yourself go?
B.S. I would like to do more movies and really challenge myself as an actress. I would love to do that.
