Alyson Stoner Biography

ALYSON STONER

Date of Birth: August 11, 1993

Alyson Stoner was born in Toledo, Ohio, where she became a model at an early age, attending the 2000 IMTA Convention in NYC where she won awards in acting, modeling and dance. Having studied ballet, tap and jazz, she moved on to hip-hop. She began landing professional gigs, such as dancing and modeling in a J.C. Penny commercial choreographed by one of her hip hop teachers, Fatima. Several Missy Elliott music videos followed, which led Alyson to exposure on shows such as Extra, The Maury Povich Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and in magazines such as YM and M.

She moved to L.A. to try her luck at the big time, and was soon chosen to co-host Disney Channel's Super Short Show before landing a substantial role as the mischievous Sarah Baker in the major motion picture Cheaper by the Dozen (2003), starring Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt as her parents and Hilary Duff and Tom Welling as two of her siblings. She then made guest appearances on sitcoms such as ABC-TV's I'm With Her, Nickelodeon's Drake & Josh, and Disney Channel's That's So Raven.

For Cheaper by the Dozen 2 (2005), Alyson reprised her role, traveling to Canada for the shoot and narrating a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of the sequel for the original DVD.

Alyson was considered when the Disney Channel was casting for their new series Hannah Montana in 2005, but was edged out by Miley Cyrus. However, Disney wound up giving Alyson a recurring role as Max, a tomboy who's also a talented dancer, on their hit series The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. She then joined Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers in the musical TV movie Camp Rock (2008), which was a huge hit and spawned a sequel, Camp Rock 2 (2010). On the big screen, she played a small role in the hit dance movie Step Up (2006), reprising her role in Step Up 3 (2010).

In her spare time, Alyson enjoys playing just about any sport, including basketball, soccer, volleyball, golf and gymnastics.

During quieter moments, she likes to sit down at her keyboard and compose her own songs. She lives in the Los Angeles area with her parents and her two sisters.
