ANTHONY MACKIE

Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, Anthony Mackie first studied acting at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts and completed his studies at Juilliard. He made his professional acting debut in the role of Tupac Shakur in Up Against the Wind onstage in New York City. He went on to win an Obie Award for his work in TALK at New York's Public Theatre.
Mackie made his Broadway debut opposite Whoopi Goldberg and Charles S. Dutton in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and has also appeared on Broadway with Alfre Woodward in Drowning Cow. His feature film debut was in 8 Mile (2002), starring Eminem. The following year he acted with Harrison Ford and Josh Hartnett in Hollywood Homicide (2003).
While filming the Showtime TV movie S.F.C. (2003), Mackie worked with director Spike Lee, who cast him as the lead in his feature film, She Hate Me (2004). Mackie has also played roles in Million Dollar Baby (2004) starring Hilary Swank, We Are Marshall (2006) with Matthew McConaughey, Eagle Eye (2008) with Shia LaBeouf and The Adjustment Bureau, starring Matt Damon. His latest roles include the films Man on a Ledge (2012) alongside Sam Worthington and Jamie Bell and the upcoming drama The Gangster Squad (2012) with Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.
