Florent Siri Biography

FLORENT SIRI

Date of Birth: March 2, 1965

Born in France, Florent Siri studied filmmaking at the Sorbonne University in Paris, where he trained under director Eric Rohmer. During the 1990s Siri began directing videos for popular French music artists. In 1998, he directed his first feature film, Une Minute de Silence (1998), which won the Youth Jury Emile Cantillon Award at the Namur International Festival of French-Speaking Film.

In 2000, Siri directed The Nest, which received critical acclaim when it was screened at the American Film Market. It was purchased by Lions Gate Films. Stratus Film Company partner and producer Mark Gordon saw The Nest and was so impressed by Siri's style that he decided he wanted him to direct their next film, Hostage (2005), starring Bruce Willis and filmed in Los Angeles.
