MARY McCORMACK
Date of Birth: February 8, 1969
Born in Plainfield, New Jersey, McCormack started her career by performing
in the Christmas opera, Amahl and the Night Visitors. With no boys in
her town that could sing, she received the male role. She continued to work in
theaters throughout New Jersey while she studied English at Trinity College
in Hartford, Connecticut.
After completing her studies, she ventured off to New York to continue her
stage and musical career. While working in theaters like The Atlantic
Theatre Company, Alice's 4th Floor, and Naked Angels, she completed an
acting program at the William Esper Studio.
McCormack began her onscreen career with a couple of bit parts in the
television series Law & Order and The Big Breakfast. She then
made it onto the big screen with a small role on Miracle on 34th Street (1994).
Her low-key status as a screen actress remained until 1997 when she was cast as Howard Stern's wife Alison in his bio-pic, Private Parts (1997). The exposure
soon led to starring roles in films like Deep Impact (1998) playing a fighter
pilot, True Crime (1999) and Mystery, Alaska (1999) as the wife of
hockey player Russell Crowe.
Taking advantage of her screen presence, McCormack worked overtime during
the beginning of this millennium, landing major roles in films like The Broken Hearts Club: A Romantic Comedy (2000), Gun Shy (2000) (both 2000), K-Pax (2001), and
High Heels And Lowlifes (2001) (both 2001).
