Jacinda Barrett Biography

JACINDA BARRETT

Date of Birth: August 2, 1972

Born in Brisbane, Australia, Jacinda Barrett left home at 17 to purse a career in modeling. Her career took her all over the world, and by the time she was 25, she made her acting debut in the American horror film Campfire (1997). Roles in other low budget productions were followed by guest appearances on a variety of TV series, including Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Millennium and Zoe, Duncan, Jack & Jane.

She masked her Australian accent for her first role in a major U.S. motion picture, Urban Legends: Final Cut (2000). Barrett landed another sizeable role in The Human Stain (2003), starring Sir Anthony Hopkins and Nicole Kidman. In Ladder 49 (2004) she played Joaquin Phoenix's wife, and standing more than an inch taller than him, played her scenes wearing ballet slippers.

Roles in Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004), Ripley Under Ground (2005) and Poseidon (2006) were followed by a leading role in The Last Kiss, (2006), as Zach Braff's love interest. She then played the object of both Billy Bob Thornton and Jon Heder's affection in School for Scoundrels (2006).

Barrett, who was named one of People's "50 Most Beautiful People in the World" in 1997, has her pilot's license. She has been married to American actor Gabriel Macht since December 29, 2004.
