Born in Sydney, Australia, Jacki Weaver made her professional debut as Cinderella at Sydney's Philip Theatre while still a schoolgirl.

In 2011 she received her first Academy Award nomination in the Supporting Actress category for her work in the motion picture Animal Kingdom (2010), followed by a second nomination in the same category in 2013 for her role in Silver Linings Playbook (2012).
